Photographer. Storyteller. Advocate.
Hi, I’m Elaine Zelker — the heart, lens, and voice behind Yes, Chef! Behind the Apron™️.
For years, I’ve worked as a professional photographer, capturing faces and stories that deserve to be seen and celebrated. But this project — this movement — is something deeply personal.
I’ve spent time behind the scenes in restaurants, connecting with chefs who are passionate about their craft but often battling struggles that go unseen. I witnessed the stress, the burnout, and the weight that so many carry. I heard stories of chefs giving back to their communities, quietly feeding families in need without recognition.
I knew these stories needed to be told.
Yes, Chef! Behind the Apron™️ started as a creative concept — a calendar featuring chefs stripped down (figuratively and sometimes literally) to reveal their true selves — their struggles, their strength, and their passion. What I didn’t expect was how deeply their stories would resonate.
It’s grown into something more powerful — a platform for raising awareness about food insecurity and mental health in the culinary industry.
I believe food is more than sustenance — it’s connection, culture, and love. And the people who dedicate their lives to feeding us deserve to be celebrated, supported, and heard.
This project is my way of giving back — amplifying the voices of chefs, promoting well-being in the industry, and creating positive change in our communities.
Whether you’re a chef, a foodie, or someone who simply believes in the power of storytelling — I invite you to be part of this journey.
